The Provision and use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) Regulation 3. Obligations: An employers obligations extend to any person who has control of non-domestic premises as a place of work and to work equipment provided for or used in connection with work by -
The duty extends to the self employed as if they were their own employees. The Regulations also detail 'suitability' of work equipment, 'maintenance and inspection', specific risks and information & instruction. Machines and plant alongside other work equipment can be individually assessed and evaluated. A full written report will be generated with recommendations for action where necessary. |
|---|
Independent Health and Safety Advice (IHASA) can perform specific 'PUWER' assessments using existing internal proforma or can generate, in partnership with the organisation, a form of assessment most useful to their undertaking. Following the PUWER risk assessment, it is very important that review of the assessment is maintained. There will be no obligation on you to commission the services of IHASA to assist in this periodic review, but all services associated with any recommendations will be available at very competitive rates. Also, IHASA can provide a 'competent person' retainer service with telephone or e-mail support if required. |
