Home About Us Services Back

The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (1998) LOLER defines 'Lifting Equipment' as - work equipment for lifting or lowering loads and includes the attachments used for anchoring, fixing or supporting (e.g. passenger lift, tower crane, mobile elevating work platform (cherry picker), fork lift truck, eyebolt, chain).

Regulation 3 states that the regulations apply to employers, self-employed and others depending on the extent of their control of -

  • lifting equipment
  • a person who uses lifting equipment
  • the way in which lifting equipment is used

Independent Health and Safety Advice (IHASA) can advise on the performance of 'LOLER' assessments.

Following the LOLER risk assessment, it is very important that review of the assessment is maintained. There will be no obligation on you to commission the services of IHASA to assist in this periodic review, but all services associated with any recommendations will be available at very competitive rates.
