DISPLAY SCREEN EQUIPMENT ASSESSMENT

The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 (DSE) refers to any alphanumeric or graphic display screen, commonly referred to as VDU, monitor, word processor etc..

The Regulations charge the employer to perform a suitable and sufficient analysis of the 'Workstation' to assess the risks to Health & Safety of any (habitual) user or operator, and reduce the risk to the lowest extent reasonably practicable.

The guidance aligns the task of analysis with that of risk assessment under the Management of Health and Safety at Work (MHSW) Regulations 1999.

Independent Health and Safety Advice (IHASA) can perform DSE risk assessments using existing internal proforma or can generate, in partnership with the organisation, a form of assessment most useful to their undertaking.

Following the DSE risk assessment, it is very important that review of the assessment is maintained. There will be no obligation on you to commission the services of IHASA to assist in this periodic review, but all services associated with any recommendations will be available at very competitive rates. Also, IHASA can provide a 'competent person' retainer service with telephone or e-mail support if required.
